Custom hat patches are the quickest way to put a sharp, premium-looking logo on a cap. A patch can hold detail the curved, seamed front panel cannot, and it can be leather, woven, PVC or embroidered. We make them from 50 pieces, supplied loose for you to fit or already applied to caps.

Hat patch sizes

A cap front panel gives you about 4.5 in across and a little over 2 in tall, split by a centre seam. Most hat patches sit well inside that.

Wide logos usually work better redrawn as a rectangle about 3 × 2 in, or stacked, than squeezed onto a round patch. Full sizing guidance is in standard patch sizes.

Loose patches or patches applied to caps

Loose patches. You receive the patches with the backing you chose and fit them yourself or through your decorator. Heat-seal backings suit a hat press — settings are in heat press patches.
Applied to caps. We supply the caps with the patches already sewn or heat-sealed on. Snapback, trucker, dad cap, fitted, bucket hat and beanie styles are available; caps are quoted on the blank, the quantity and the patch. See custom caps and hats for styles and decoration areas.

Common questions

How much do custom hat patches cost?

From $0.75 per patch for embroidered at volume. A 2.5 inch embroidered hat patch is $3.45 each for 50 pieces and $0.90 each for 1,000. Leather hat patches start at $1.95 and PVC at $1.85.

What is the minimum order?

50 pieces per design, the same minimum as every patch we make.

Can you put the patches on the hats for me?

Yes. We can supply caps with the patches already applied, or send the patches loose. Caps with patches are quoted on the cap style, quantity and patch type.

Are leather patches good for hats?

Yes — they are one of the most popular hat patch styles. The logo is debossed or laser-engraved, and the patch is usually sewn around the edge for durability.

What size should a hat patch be?

2.5 inches suits most cap fronts. Go to 3 inches on a high structured snapback or trucker, and 2 inches for side panels, low dad caps and beanies.
