What we make for military customers

Most military orders fall into a handful of types. Each one is an embroidered, woven or PVC patch underneath, so the price comes from the same grid as every other patch we make.

  • Unit and squadron patches — company, battalion, squadron, detachment and ship designs for the team to wear and trade
  • Deployment and event patches — a design for one rotation, exercise or ceremony, often ordered in the minimum run of 50
  • Subdued OCP patches — the same artwork stitched in muted OCP tones, usually with hook backing for the sleeve
  • Morale patches — humour, call signs and inside jokes. See our custom morale patches page
  • Name tapes and tabs — see custom name patches
  • Veterans and reunion patches — anniversary designs, association badges and memorial patches

Full colour or subdued

A full-colour patch is for display, jackets, bags and events. A subdued patch uses a short palette of muted tones so it sits quietly on a camouflage uniform. Send us the full-colour artwork and tell us you want a subdued version too. We will proof both, and each counts as its own design for the 50-piece minimum.

PVC is the other common choice for field use. It does not fray, it shrugs off rain and mud, and it holds sharp detail. It starts at $1.85 a piece. See custom PVC patches.

Sizes and pricing

Embroidered military patches start at $0.75 a piece. Size is the average of height and width, so a 3 by 4 inch unit patch is priced as a 3.5 inch patch. Every backing is included at no extra cost.

Before you wear it on duty uniform

We make custom patches for unit identity, events, morale and veterans. We are not a source of official issued insignia. If a patch is going on a duty uniform, check what your unit and your service regulation allow first. Placement rules differ by branch. Our guides cover the Army OCP uniform and the Air Force OCP uniform.

What we guarantee on every order

These are the terms every order is made under — the same ones written in our order terms, not a sales promise.

  • Free proof, usually the same working day. It shows size, thread colours, border and backing.
  • Unlimited free changes. Ask for as many proof revisions as you need.
  • Nothing is made until you approve it in writing. You can cancel free of charge at any point before approval.
  • Remade at our cost if it does not match the proof. Tell us within 14 days of delivery with photos and we cover the remake and the return shipping on our errors.
  • No setup or digitizing fees. Redrawing and digitizing your artwork is part of the price.
  • Free tracked shipping worldwide.

Honest limits: thread is matched as closely as thread allows, so a small shift against a printed Pantone chip is normal, and very fine detail is flagged on the proof before you approve it.

Common questions

What is the minimum order for custom military patches?

50 pieces per design. A subdued version of the same artwork counts as a second design.

Can you match our existing unit patch?

Yes. Send a clear photo of the old patch and its size. We redraw it, match the thread colours as closely as thread allows, and show you the result on the proof before anything is made.

Do you make hook-backed patches for OCP sleeves?

Yes. Hook backing is one of the six backings included in the price. We supply the loop panel too, in case the garment does not have one.

Can you make patches for a reunion or retirement?

Yes. These are common orders. Many groups order 50 to 100 pieces and use the spares as gifts.

How long does it take?

10–12 business days of production after you approve the proof, or 5–7 business days on rush at no extra charge. Then 3–7 business days in transit.
