Logo Digitizing for Embroidery

Logo digitizing

Logo digitizing converts your logo into an embroidery file your machine can sew. We digitize every logo by hand — choosing stitch types, direction, underlay and density for the garment it will be sewn on — so small text stays readable and edges stay crisp on shirts, caps, jackets and patches.

Logo digitizing turns your logo into a stitch file your embroidery machine can sew. We digitize logos from any file type, including JPG, PNG, PDF, AI and SVG, and set each design up for its garment, size and placement.

From any file to an embroidery file

You do not need special artwork. We convert JPG, PNG, PDF, SVG, AI, EPS and CDR files — and even a phone photo of a logo on a shirt — into embroidery. If the source is low quality, we redraw it first so the digitizing has clean shapes to follow.

Placement changes the file

PlacementTypical sizeWhat we adjust
Left chest (polos, shirts, workwear)3.5–4 in wideSmall-text limits, light density for knit fabrics
Cap frontUp to about 2.25 in tallCentre-out sewing, cap-specific underlay — see cap digitizing
Jacket back10–12 in wideLong-stitch control, fill split to prevent puckering
Sleeve and pocket2–3 inSimplified detail
PatchesAnyBorder and fill planned together — see patch digitizing

A logo digitized for a 4-inch polo chest will not sew well on a 2-inch cap or a 12-inch jacket back. Tell us where it is going and we digitize for that, or for each placement you need.

Small text and fine detail

Embroidery thread has thickness, so tiny lettering fills in. As a rule of thumb, satin lettering needs to be around 5 mm tall to read cleanly. Where a logo has text smaller than that, we suggest the smallest change that keeps it legible — slightly larger text, a bolder font or dropping a tagline — before we digitize.

Who we digitize for

  • Businesses and corporate uniforms
  • Sports teams and schools
  • Print shops and embroidery businesses that want a reliable digitizer
  • Clothing brands and hat brands
  • Patch makers and promotional product companies
  • Etsy and online sellers

Convert a logo to an embroidery file

To convert a logo to embroidery, we redraw it stitch by stitch rather than auto-converting it. Each area gets a stitch type (satin, fill or running), a stitch direction, underlay and pull compensation suited to the fabric. That’s why a professionally digitized logo sews crisp on a polo shirt while an auto-converted one puckers and loses its edges.

Company logo digitizing for uniforms and workwear

Business logo embroidery digitizing for uniforms usually needs one logo in several sizes: left chest, cap front, sleeve and jacket back. We digitize each size separately rather than scaling one file, because stitch density and small text do not scale cleanly. Corporate logo digitizing, workwear logo digitizing, sports team logo digitizing and school logo embroidery digitizing are all handled this way.

Machine formats and delivery

We supply DST for commercial machines such as Tajima, Barudan, Ricoma and SWF, and native formats such as PES, JEF, EXP, VP3, HUS and XXX for home and semi-commercial machines. Every custom logo embroidery file comes with a stitch-out preview, a colour sheet and the stitch count.

Common questions

How much does logo digitizing cost?

It depends on size and detail. Send your logo for a fixed quote before any work starts.

Will it work on my machine?

Yes. We supply your machine format — Tajima, Brother, Janome, Barudan, Melco, Ricoma, Bernina and others.

Can you also make a vector of my logo?

Yes. See vector art conversion.

Can I use one file for a cap and a shirt?

It’s better not to. Caps sew centre-out on a curved frame and need their own pathing, so we digitize a separate cap version.

What’s the smallest text you can digitize?

Lettering around 5 mm tall can sew cleanly on most fabrics. Smaller text may need simplifying.
