Adhesive patches
An adhesive patch — peel-and-stick, or sticky-back — is a cloth patch with a pressure-sensitive glue layer under a release paper. Peel the paper, press the patch on, done. No iron, no needle. The trade-off is simple: it is the fastest backing to apply and the least permanent, so it suits a day, an event or a hard surface, not a garment that goes in the wash.

What an adhesive cloth patch is good for
| Use | Why adhesive works |
|---|---|
| Event, conference and trade-show badges | Applied in seconds at the door and removed the same evening |
| Giveaways and merch packs | No tools needed by the person receiving it |
| Laptops, cases, notebooks and hard surfaces | A smooth, rigid surface holds the glue far better than cloth |
| Mock-ups and placement tests | Try a patch on a garment before it is sewn on for good |
| Display boards and collections | Holds a patch flat on a board without stitching |
Where it will let you down
Be clear about the limits before you order. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is not a heat-seal film and it is not stitching:
- Washing. An adhesive patch will not survive a washing machine. If the garment gets washed, choose sew-on or iron-on.
- Textured or fluffy fabric. Fleece, knit and terry give the glue too little contact. Smooth, tight weaves hold best.
- Months of wear. Edges lift with flexing. For anything longer-term, stitch round the edge or choose another backing.
Our patch types page sets the six backings we fit side by side, and glue for patches explains when a separate fabric glue does better than a factory adhesive.
Adhesive fabric patches compared with other backings
| Backing | Apply with | Survives washing | Removable |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adhesive (peel-and-stick) | Your hands | No | Yes, cleanly on most surfaces |
| Iron-on (heat seal) | An iron or heat press | Yes, on cotton and denim | Not designed to be |
| Sew-on | Needle and thread | Yes | With a seam ripper |
| Velcro (hook) | Loop panel on the garment | Yes | Yes, by design |
Looking for a repair patch?
Some people searching for an adhesive cloth patch need to mend a tear in a down jacket or a tent rather than carry a logo. That is a different product: a thin nylon or polyester repair tape sold by the roll. We make decorative and branded patches. If you want a logo that also covers a tear, a sew-on or iron-on patch does both jobs and stays on.

Common questions
Do adhesive patches stay on clothes?
For a day or an event, yes. Through washing or months of wear, no. For clothes that get washed, choose sew-on or iron-on.
Can you wash a peel-and-stick patch?
No. Water and agitation release a pressure-sensitive adhesive. Remove it before washing.
Can an adhesive patch be sewn on later?
Yes. Stitch round the edge and it becomes as permanent as a sew-on patch. The glue layer makes the needle a little stiffer.
How much do custom adhesive patches cost?
The patch follows our embroidered grid, from $0.75 at volume. The peel-and-stick backing is confirmed on the free quote, so you see the full price before you approve anything.
What is the minimum order?
50 pieces per design.
