Leather patches
A leather patch does a different job from an embroidered one. It is not there to be read across a room — it is there to make the garment feel considered. That is why it turns up on cap backs, denim waistbands and the chest of a heavyweight jacket, at sizes small enough that you have to be close to read them.
Three ways to mark leather

Genuine or PU?
Genuine leather takes a deboss better, ages, and reads as the more expensive option. PU is consistent piece to piece, does not mind rain, is vegan, and costs less. For headwear where every patch must look identical, PU is often the better call; for a small run of premium pieces, genuine.

Choosing a backing
Leather is normally sewn on. Adhesive backings do not bond reliably to a hide, and heat pressing risks marking the face.

Common questions
Can a leather patch go on a cap?
Yes, and it is one of the most common uses. Keep it inside the crown panel — the placement guide gives the usable area on a structured cap.
Will the deboss fade?
The impression is permanent; the colour contrast softens as the leather ages, which most people want. Laser etching holds contrast longer.
