Why a vector file
A JPG or PNG is made of pixels, so it goes soft and jagged when it is enlarged. A vector file is made of shapes and curves, so it stays sharp at any size, from a lapel pin to a banner. Most print, engraving, cutting and patch production starts from a vector.
We redraw your artwork by hand rather than running it through an auto-trace. Auto-tracing produces wobbly edges, extra points and blobs of colour that show up clearly in production.

Will it look exactly like my original?
Yes, unless you ask us to tidy it up. We redraw the shapes, match the colours and match the font where it can be identified, and you approve a proof before the final files are sent.
Do I need vector art to order patches from you?
No. We work from any clear image for patches and apparel, and any redrawing needed for production is part of the order.
